Scripture:  Luke 19:40 “But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.

  1. Jesus was in complete CONTROL of every detail during the Passion Week
  2. Jesus UNCHARACTERISTICALLY allowed Himself to be properly proclaimed
  3. Jesus never hurried or rushed through any APPOINTMENT – Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21:1-4
  • Mark 12:41-44 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury.  Many rich people threw in large amounts.  But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction a penny.  Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.  They all gave out their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything – all she had to live on.”
  1. Jesus, by presenting himself as MESSIAH, invites everyone to make a choice
    • Luke 19:39-40 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” 40“I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
    • Matt 21:12-13 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13“It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a ‘den of robbers.’
    • Matt 21:14-16 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant. 16“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise’?”
    • You can choose CONSTERNATION – feelings of anxiety or dismay, typically at something unexpected
    • The religious ELITE rejected Jesus
    • OR…You can choose CELEBRATION – the action of marking one’s pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity
    • Jesus INVITES every man, woman, boy and girl to make Him their Messiah and celebrate His gracious salvation
