Reckless Abandon – Following Jesus Through the Gospels – The Why

Scripture Emphasis:

Matt 19:21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Why?  The question brings with it negative connotations.  Parents fear and even dread it from their children.  It is a question that leads to a larger conversation than we want to have.  Because of this, we tend to avoid the Why’s in our lives.  When it comes to following Jesus the Why questions are as important as the Who, What, When, Where and How’s.  Today we look at two why questions that will help us follow Christ.

Why we need to evaluate our relationship with Jesus

  1. We should evaluate to make sure we are following ______________
  • Religious _____________ does not equal unrivaled ______________
  1. After evaluating, we will either be _____________ or ____________
  • No ____________ in this man – no trickery or trapping


Why we need to follow Jesus with our whole heart
