Summer of Hope… Hope for the Nations(4)

Scripture Emphasis:

Matt 12:21 “In his name the nations will put their hope.”

When things are bad, when times are tough, there is usually one thing that keeps people moving forward – HOPE.  There are two hopes in life.  The first is blind hope, hope that things can and will get better.  The second is more powerful.  It is confident hope based upon reality.  The NT uses the word “hope” 80 times.  Sometimes hope is a person, an action, a place, an event, an act, a lifestyle, or an anchor.  All times they are based upon the realities the Bible gives to the believer to cement their hope.  This summer will we explore a few of them.

  1. The Hope for the Nations offers greater ___PEACE__ than all the World’s treaties
  • He offers peace _WITH__ God and the peace _OF_ God
  1. The Hope for the Nations is greater than all the world _GOVERNMENTS__
  • He does not _CRUSH__ the feeble and poor – a bruised reed

3.The Hope for the Nations is greater than all the conquering _WARRIORS_

  • He does not cast a __HEAVY_ burden – Matt. 11:28-30
  1. The Hope for the Nations is more ______________ than all other gods
  • He ____________ freely all offences of the broken and contrite heart
  1. The Hope for the Nations is greater than all the proud ____________ of religion – Matt. 23
  • He does not treat His people ________________ – a smoldering wick
  1. The Hope for the Nations is less ______________ yet more victorious than all others v.19, 21
